Kappler was founded over 40 years ago by Frank Kappler in the effort to supply the model railroad and hobby industry with a source for high quality and dimensionally accurate scale lumber. Kappler lumber soon became sought after and was considered the highest quality scale lumber on the market.
After Frank's death, his company changed hands many times over the years, resulting in availability and other problems, which prompted speculation that Kappler was out of business.

Kappler was purchased by Cross Custom Woodworking, a custom woodworking business owned and operated by a mechanical engineer Pete Cross. Pete has been in the woodworking industry for over 40 years and he brings his experience and expertise to Kappler products and hopes to improve on the already stellar reputation that comes with the name. Pete Cross has entered the model railroad business under the advisement of Dave Naples the operations manager of the Moffat Railroad Museum in Granby, CO. Dave is an expert within the model industry and has been using Kappler products for years.

Kappler is run by a family business in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO where it hopes to thrive. We are in the process of rebuilding our website which hopefully will be at full operation soon.
