David Rygmyr of Oso, WA
Dave got his first start in the hobby when he
got an American Flyer train set for Christmas one year.
Like many others, different interests came along and
the set eventually went back into a box.
Years later,
as a stressed-out adult, he decided to try and find a
hobby and model railroading was at the top of the list.
While poking around for what to build and model, he
discovered logging railroads and their quirky equipment
and interesting detail. He also soon learned that
logging railroad equipment and information are rarely
offered by the "mainstream" manufacturers. This led him
to purchasing a company, Evergreen Hill Designs, plus
casting equipment and a laser cutter to start offering
products suited to logging and other short line
railroads. The desire for the highest-quality wood led
him and his friends Erik and Gro Holt to purchase
Kappler Mill & Lumber Company. The rest, as they say,
is history.
